Irene Garcia Cano

Biography

Industrial Engineer from the University of Zaragoza and PhD in Science from the Autonomous University of Madrid. She is currently Professor in the area of Materials Science at the University of Barcelona, where she also serves as Vice Dean for Research and Knowledge Transfer at the Faculty of Chemistry. She leads the Thermal Spray Center (CPT), a centre specialised in surface engineering and thermal spray technologies, accredited as a TECNIO group of the University of Barcelona, and she is also Vice President of the TECNIO Association.

Her scientific activity focuses on the development, processing and characterisation of metallic and ceramic materials, as well as functional coatings, additive manufacturing by cold spray and solutions aimed at technology transfer. Throughout her career, she has combined fundamental and applied research, with a clear commitment to collaboration with industry and impact across industrial sectors.
